How to easily wash your period panties
Using and washing period panties is simple! We recommend washing your period panties before wearing them the first time. This improves absorbency. After that, just follow these easy tips after each use.

  • Rinse your period panties in cold water after use.

  • Either wash them right away or let them dry and wash later.

  • Machine wash panties at 40°C (104°F).

  • Do not use bleach or fabric softener. It’s perfectly fine to wash the panties with other clothes. Use a laundry bag to avoid damage from sharp edges.

  • Of course, you can also hand wash the panties.

  • Follow the instructions on the detergent you use.

  • Hang dry the panties.

  • Avoid tumble drying and ironing.

Each time you use a pair of period panties, you replace an average of four to five disposable products. Take care of your panties to give them a long life. That way, you do something good for the environment without compromising on comfort or health.

Do the washing instructions also apply to period-proof swimwear?
Yes, swimwear with built-in period protection is washed the same way as period panties. If you wear swimwear for longer periods and go in and out of the water, you can rinse them between swims to be sure. Afterwards, rinse in cold water, wash by machine or hand, and hang dry. Swimwear dries relatively quickly — especially when hung in the sun.

Do period panties need rinsing?
Yes, it’s good to rinse the panties in cold water to remove as much blood as possible before machine washing. Be sure to rinse the padded area thoroughly. Rinse under running cold water and gently press out water without twisting the protection too hard.

Should period panties be washed right after use?
Sometimes it’s not possible to run a washing machine immediately after changing period panties. That’s no problem. If possible, rinse the panties as soon as you can and then let them dry. Later, you can wash them in the machine when it suits you.

How fast do period panties dry?
Drying time depends on the absorption level and type of protection. Panties with higher absorbency have thicker padding and take longer to dry. To speed drying, hang them in a drying cabinet, on a radiator, or towel rack at low heat. Comfydence period-proof swimwear dries faster than other models and can be used like regular period panties. They have high absorbency when used dry.

Can period panties be hand washed?
Yes, hand washing period panties and swimwear with period protection works well. Rinse thoroughly in cold water to remove blood. Then wash with a little hand detergent and hang dry. The same applies to swimwear, which dries relatively quickly after washing.

Stains on period panties?
Sometimes light stains appear in the crotch area. This is very common and the stains are not dirt or leftover blood/discharge. The stains come from the fabric bleaching due to the body fluid’s pH. pH levels are personal and can vary over time. The stains cannot be washed away but are nothing to worry about. You can read more about the cause of stains here.

Period panties that smell bad?
Have you followed the washing instructions but still notice a sour smell? No worries! It’s likely because the panties have been damp for too long, and this is usually easy to fix. Soak the panties in vinegar water or add vinegar to the detergent compartment in your machine. If you want, add a few drops of aromatic oil. If drying is difficult, you can once in a while use a gentle tumble dry program to prevent odor from returning. Follow this link for info on odor and materials in the panties.

At what temperature should period panties be washed?
We usually recommend washing period panties at 40°C (104°F) as this is gentler on materials and extends their lifespan. However, cotton panties can be washed at 60°C (140°F) if desired. Note that elasticity and color may wear out faster at 60°C compared to 40°C.

Comfydence absorbent panties made of materials other than cotton, as well as glued panties, are not tested above 40°C. We do not recommend washing the Stay Lazy panties at 60°C as the lace may be damaged. We also don’t recommend washing the Under Cover panties at 60°C as the glue may come loose at high temperatures.

How many washes do period panties last?
Comfydence period panties are tested to last at least 50 washes if cared for according to the washing instructions. Often, panties last much longer, but like regular underwear, fabric, elastic, and color may weaken over time.

Period panties in different materials
Comfydence period panties come in several fabrics, styles, and colors. Just like us women, they are alike inside but with different styles and looks. Choose between shimmering and light nylon, comfy cotton, or the softest bamboo. All panties have an organic cotton lining that absorbs quickly and keeps the surface dry.

Inside the panty’s protection are two or more layers of cotton or microfiber that absorb. One layer of polyester (TPU) with a moisture barrier coating prevents liquid from passing through. The outer fabric depends on the model you choose. You can find material details on each product page.

Period panties without antibacterial treatment
Comfydence period panties do not contain antibacterial treatment. Such treatment adds biocides, for example silver, to prevent bacterial growth. Studies show this can cause allergies and does not last over time, as it’s washed out with laundry water causing serious environmental harm.
